Pursuant to Decision No. 258/QD-SNN&MT dated March 2, 2026, of the Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Center for Agricultural Extension and Forest Protection and Development collaborated with the People's Committee of Luong Minh Commune to deliver breeding bee colonies and supplies to households participating in the model "Beekeeping associated with the protection of protection forests and special-use forests".
Deploying beekeeping in conjunction with forest protection
Scale and participating households in the beekeeping model

On May 15, 2026, in Khe Giay village, Luong Minh commune, the model was implemented with a scale of 100 bee colonies distributed to 5 participating households. Participating households received 100% financial support for breeding stock and essential supplies, along with training courses on beekeeping techniques, disease prevention, and safe, sustainable colony management. During implementation, technical staff from the Center will regularly monitor and provide hands-on guidance to ensure the model achieves maximum effectiveness.
All bee colonies were carefully selected, with queen bees bred using artificial insemination to ensure genetic quality, growth capacity, colony development, and good adaptation to local natural conditions. Beekeeping supplies and equipment such as hives, frames, and care tools were all inspected and approved according to correct types and technical standards before being handed over to households.
The beekeeping model linked with the protection of protection and special-use forests is considered well-suited to the ecological conditions and local orientation for developing an economy under the forest canopy. Luong Minh commune has a large area of natural and protection forests, diverse flora, and abundant wild nectar sources, creating favorable conditions for beekeeping to develop sustainably and yield high-quality honey.
In addition to economic efficiency, the beekeeping model associated with the protection of protection forests and special-use forests also holds practical significance in forest management, protection, and development. By creating sustainable livelihoods under the forest canopy, local people gain a stable source of income, thereby raising their awareness of forest conservation and limiting activities that negatively affect forest resources. This is also a development direction aligned with the policy of advancing ecological agriculture, green economy, and circular economy linked with biodiversity conservation in the province.
At the handover ceremony, representatives of the participating households committed to strictly following technical procedures, managing, and caring for the bee colonies in accordance with the guidance of technical officers; at the same time, they actively coordinate with local authorities in forest protection and preserving the ecological environment. The handover of breeding bees and supplies is also a practical activity in response to "World Bee Day", contributing to raising community awareness of the role of bees in ecosystem protection and sustainable agricultural development.
