According to the enterprise, the Dakka black pig was developed through years of breeding and genetic selection. The pig breed is geared towards farming models suited to local production conditions while providing a source of high-quality, high-value-added meat products.

Meat quality makes the difference

Meat characteristics according to information from the company

One of the key traits that Viet Thai Group focuses on developing in Dakka black pigs is meat quality. According to the company, the meat is juicy with a well-balanced lean-to-fat ratio, offering a distinctive rich, savory aroma when cooked without feeling overly greasy.

Focusing on meat quality is considered the foundation for the business to target this pig breed towards the specialty food segment, while gradually building a brand tied to the origins and characteristics of the Central Highlands.

Not only targeting the domestic market, the enterprise also aims to develop value-added products, gradually accessing high-quality food markets.

Suitable for various livestock farming models

Besides meat quality traits, Dakka black pigs are evaluated by enterprises as having the ability to adapt to various farming conditions.

This pig breed is characterized by its agility, activeness, and good adaptability. These are favorable traits for implementing models ranging from smallholder farming and semi-free-range farms to organic and ecological livestock systems.

According to Viet Thai Group, the ability to utilize diverse feed sources is also a key emphasized advantage. Farmers can formulate feed rations from raw ingredients such as grains, vegetables, roots, fruits, and green forage suited to local conditions.

Utilizing locally available ingredients not only helps diversify feed rations but also allows farmers to be more proactive in production, especially in rural areas with abundant agricultural by-products.

Combining science with indigenous strengths

The development of Dakka black pigs is part of Viet Thai Group Agriculture Joint Stock Company's strategy to research and develop high-value agricultural products linked to local natural conditions and resources.

The business stated that the breeding and selection research had been conducted over many years with the participation of a team of experts. The objective was to combine selection and cross-breeding methods with the advantages of climate conditions, soil, and feed resources in the Central Highlands.

From this foundation, Dakka black pig is expected to become a specialty livestock product, contributing to diversifying Dak Lak's agricultural products and opening new development pathways for livestock farmers.

As the agricultural sector increasingly focuses on increasing value rather than merely maximizing output, developing livestock breeds with distinct characteristics tied to production regions and building brand identities has become an approach pursued by many enterprises.

With Dakka black pigs, Viet Thai Group aims to create a product bearing the hallmark of the Central Highlands, gradually enhancing the value of the livestock supply chain and targeting high-quality domestic and international food markets.
