Local food management measures

Facing the complicated developments of food poisoning cases related to fermented fish in the area, leaders of Da Nang City issued decisive instructions to control the situation and ensure safety for citizens. On March 31, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi personally conducted an on-site inspection, visited the families of the poisoning victims, and worked with the authorities of Phuoc Nang Commune to assess local management efforts.
According to reports from commune leaders, the locality has implemented various measures to mitigate risks, focusing on awareness campaigns and encouraging residents not to consume potentially harmful fermented fish products. Commune authorities have also established working groups in each village for direct supervision while urging residents to voluntarily hand over risky food items. Hundreds of households have been mobilized to sign commitments not to consume these products.

During the working session, city leaders requested the locality to continue supporting families with food poisoning victims, particularly in monitoring post-treatment health. At the same time, communes and wards need to step up communication so that residents are well aware of the serious risks of consuming unsafe traditional dishes.
Notably, the city emphasized the responsibility of grassroots authorities in prevention efforts. In the event of food poisoning incidents resulting from lax management, local heads will be strictly held accountable. This is seen as a move demonstrating a firm commitment to tightening discipline and safeguarding public health and lives.

In addition, the authorities also stated that international organizations have recently provided specific antidotes for poisoning cases. However, accessing these drugs is not easy at all and treatment costs are very high. Therefore, the fundamental solution remains early prevention to minimize risks.
With strong directives from city leaders, Da Nang is striving to control the situation while raising public awareness of food safety, aiming to protect people's health and safeguard the local image.
