With the support of PGS Vietnam, the farmer training course on organic vegetable farming in Thanh Dong Village, Cam Thanh Commune, Hoi An City has concluded after 5 weeks of training comprising 15 sessions.

Organic knowledge and vegetable farming technical practices
This is a project in response to the new rural development program of Cam Thanh Commune, supported by the Hoi An City Economic Department and the Action Center for City Development (ACCD) – a non-governmental organization.
The basics and principles of organic agriculture as well as vegetable cultivation techniques were introduced during the training course. Classroom knowledge was also put directly into practice in the fields of the Thanh Dong organic production area under the guidance of instructors during the afternoons.
Establishing a dedicated PGS for Hoi An
To help farmers market their products, alongside providing training in production techniques, PGS Vietnam helped Hoi An establish its own PGS system to monitor, inspect and certify organically grown products. This is the first organic vegetable production model in Central Vietnam to establish its own PGS system and apply the IFOAM-recognized PGS Vietnam organic standards.
Under the ADB Project TA 8163 "Core Agriculture Support Program Phase 2 in the Greater Mekong Subregion", IFOAM, acting as a consultant, officially selected Hoi An as one of two pilot models in Vietnam to support PGS development.
