According to report No. 244/BC-TTBVTV dated 25/6/2026 by the Sub-Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City), faced with prolonged hot weather, high temperatures, and current summer-autumn production conditions, localities and farmers should proactively monitor the emergence and development of harmful organisms to implement timely and effective management and prevention measures, minimizing damage to production.

Many harmful pests and diseases tend to increase on rice crops

According to forecasts, rats will continue to increase their damage in areas where prevention has not met technical requirements, especially areas near graves, dikes, dams, village edges, and places with favorable conditions for rats to live and shelter.

In addition, rice leaf folders, various types of planthoppers, and sheath blight will continue to accumulate in density and damage rates, especially on early rice crops currently in the booting stage. Other harmful organisms are present but at low levels, not yet significantly affecting crop growth and yield.

To proactively respond, localities need to guide farmers to regularly inspect fields, apply top-dressing fertilizer for booting in a balanced and timely manner; and maintain appropriate water levels in the fields from the booting to the flowering and ripening stages to prevent heat shock for rice plants under prolonged hot conditions.

Rat control efforts need to be implemented synchronously and regularly to limit damage density in the fields. People must absolutely not use electricity in any form to catch rats to ensure safety of life and comply with legal regulations.

Parallel to this, it is necessary to strengthen investigation and forecasting of other harmful organisms to proactively develop appropriate and effective management plans.

Notably, under current high-temperature conditions, farmers should conduct pesticide spraying in the late afternoon, avoid mixing many types of pesticides in one spray, and ensure the correct amount of water per unit area as prescribed to improve prevention effectiveness.

Proactively controlling diseases on rubber trees

For rubber trees, stem bleeding and black stripe canker continue to be harmful organisms of concern. Localities need to increase inspections, early detection, and timely treatment to limit the spread of the disease on a large scale.

Along with that, it is necessary to continue monitoring the progress of other harmful organisms to have appropriate management measures, prioritizing treatment on a narrow scale as soon as the disease appears, contributing to protecting the yield and lifespan of the plantation.

Enhancing care and prevention of gummosis disease

On fruit trees, especially Thanh Tra pomelo, gummosis, leaf miners, stem borers, branch borers, and aphids continue to emerge and cause damage.

Specialized agencies recommend that farmers increase care, apply appropriate fertilizers, and proactively irrigate to help the trees nurture fruit well and improve resistance to pests and diseases. At the same time, synchronous measures should be implemented to prevent gummosis on Thanh Tra pomelo trees to limit the risk of large-scale spreading.

The monitoring and forecasting of other harmful organisms also need to be maintained regularly to have timely and effective management and prevention solutions.

Strictly control mosaic disease and whitefly transmission vectors

For cassava, mosaic disease continues to occur, especially in areas using infected cuttings from previous crops.

Therefore, localities need to step up investigation, detection, and forecasting of the pest situation, especially whiteflies - the vector for transmitting cassava mosaic disease, to direct spraying at the right time and improve pest management efficiency.

Proactively prevent root rot and anthracnose

On lotus plants, diseases such as root rot, stem rot, anthracnose, and leaf spot, along with thrips and lotus leaf miners, have the potential to cause localized damage in some production areas.

People need to increase care and balanced fertilization so that the plants grow healthily; at the same time, spray to treat root rot, stem rot, and anthracnose as soon as the disease appears to limit spread and minimize damage.

The investigation and forecasting of other harmful organisms also need to be carried out regularly to promptly provide effective prevention measures.

Monitor pests and diseases, provide proper crop care

For vegetables and flowers, tip burn, leaf-eating caterpillars, flea beetles, and some other harmful organisms are predicted to occur at low levels.

The agricultural sector of Hue City recommends that farmers continue to care for, replant, and fertilize appropriately so that crops grow and develop well; at the same time, regularly monitor pest developments to have timely management and prevention measures, limiting impacts on the yield and quality of agricultural products.

Monitoring pests and proper crop care will significantly contribute to protecting production and improving economic efficiency

Proactively forecasting, monitoring, and implementing management measures for harmful organisms in a synchronous and scientific manner will contribute significantly to protecting production, improving economic efficiency, and ensuring the sustainable development of the agricultural sector under current complicated weather conditions./.
