Organic vegetable production and labeling in Vietnam are guided by national standards along with various domestic and international voluntary standard systems.
TCVN for organic vegetables already exists
Guidance scope of TCVN 11041:2015
TCVN 11041:2015, published by the Ministry of Science and Technology, provides guidelines for the production, processing, labeling, and marketing of organic foods. Decree 80/2013/NĐ-CP stipulates penalties for violations regarding standards and product quality.
Because the national standard is copyrighted and was not widely disseminated, many production facilities were once unaware that Vietnam had an organic standard.
Other models and standards
- PGS is recognized by IFOAM and implemented in many production areas in Vietnam.
- Project ADB CAPSII/TA8163 REG supports the development of organic agriculture in Mekong sub-region countries.
- Some enterprises apply USDA-NOP, EU Organic Farming, or IFOAM standards.
- Hanoi has previously issued temporary technical procedures for organic vegetable production.
