In the joyful atmosphere celebrating the Buddha's Birthday (Buddhist Calendar 2570) and looking forward to the vibrant activities of Hue Festival 2026, the Vegetarian Food Festival – Hue Festival 2026 promises to become a distinctive cultural highlight, contributing to promoting the image of Hue—a land steeped in cultural heritage, humanism, and culinary quintessence—to visitors from near and far.

Organized by the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hue City in collaboration with the Hue Festival 2026 Organizing Committee, the event will take place over two days, May 28–29, 2026 (the 12th–13th of the 4th lunar month), along Nguyen Dinh Chieu Walking Street, Thuan Hoa Ward, Hue City. The opening ceremony will be held at 4:00 PM on May 28, 2026, kicking off a series of meaningful cultural and community activities highlighting a green, healthy lifestyle and the spirit of compassion and kindness in society.
This year's festival brings together 56 stalls featuring approximately 100 distinctive vegetarian dishes from hotels, restaurants, pagodas, and culinary establishments both within and outside the city. The program is expected to welcome over 5,000 visitors to tour, experience, and savor vegetarian specialties steeped in the identity of the ancient imperial capital of Hue.
Beyond showcasing the culinary art of vegetarian cooking, the festival is also an opportunity to honor the cultural depth of Hue's cuisine. Through the skillful hands of chefs and culinary artisans, familiar ingredients are transformed into light yet sophisticated dishes, harmonized in flavor, color, and nutritional value. Each dish not only satisfies culinary tastes but also conveys a message of healthy living, harmony with nature, and humanistic values in modern life.

In the flow of integration and development, culture always serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity. Vegetarian cuisine, with its philosophy of virtue and Buddhist spirit of compassion, is increasingly becoming a lifestyle trend embraced by the community. Through this festival, the Organizing Committee aims to spread the message of green, peaceful, and sustainable living, while contributing to building Hue’s image as an attractive cultural and culinary destination both regionally and nationally.
A special highlight of the Vegetarian Food Festival – Hue Festival 2026 is its profound humanistic significance. All sponsorships and contributions raised from the event will be used by the Organizing Committee for charity and social welfare activities, livelihood support for disadvantaged households, scholarships for studious underprivileged students, and aid for vulnerable groups in the area. This continues to foster the nation's cherished tradition of mutual affection while affirming Buddhism’s accompanying role in community-oriented initiatives.
According to the Organizing Committee, the festival is not only a cultural playground for locals and tourists, but also helps promote the brand of "Hue – Culinary Capital" through the unique values of traditional vegetarian gastronomy. It is also an opportunity for service businesses, restaurants, hotels, and monasteries to connect and introduce the uniqueness of Hue's vegetarian culinary arts to the public.

Detailed information about the event program will be updated on social media platforms and the Hue Buddhism fanpage.
