According to the company, the Dakka black pig was developed through years of genetic breeding and selection. The breed is oriented towards farming models suited to local production conditions, while simultaneously providing a source of high-quality, high-value-added meat products.

Meat Quality That Makes a Difference

Meat Characteristics According to the Company

One of the primary characteristics Viet Thai Group focused on developing in the Dakka black pig is meat quality. According to company information, the meat is juicy, features a well-balanced fat-to-lean ratio, and, when cooked, offers a distinctive savory and rich flavor without feeling greasy.

Focusing on meat quality serves as the foundation for the enterprise to direct this pig breed toward the specialty food segment, while progressively building a brand tied to the origin and identity of the Central Highlands.

Beyond targeting the domestic market, the company also aims to develop products toward higher value addition, gradually tapping into high-quality food markets.

Adaptable to Diverse Farming Models

Alongside its meat quality traits, the Dakka black pig is recognized by the enterprise for its high adaptability to diverse farming conditions.

The breed is agile, active, and highly adaptable. These are advantageous traits for implementing diverse models ranging from smallholder farming and semi-free-range systems to organic and ecological farming practices.

According to Viet Thai Group, the ability to utilize varied feed sources is another key advantage. Farmers can formulate feed rations using local resources such as grains, vegetables, roots, fruits, and fresh forage suited to the conditions of each locality.

Utilizing locally available ingredients not only diversifies diets but also enables farmers to achieve greater self-reliance in production, particularly in rural areas with abundant agricultural by-products.

Combining Science with Indigenous Strengths

The development of the Dakka black pig aligns with Viet Thai Group Agriculture Joint Stock Company's strategic direction to research and develop high-value agricultural products linked to local natural conditions and resources.

The company noted that the research and breeding selection process spanned multiple years with the participation of specialized experts. The objective was to combine breeding and selection techniques with the advantages of the Central Highlands' climate, soil conditions, and feed resources.

Building on this foundation, the Dakka black pig is expected to become a specialty livestock product, contributing to the diversification of Dak Lak's agricultural products and opening new development pathways for local farmers.

In a context where the agricultural sector increasingly prioritizes value enhancement over mere volume, developing livestock breeds with distinct characteristics linked to specific production areas and brand building is a strategic path pursued by many enterprises.

With the Dakka black pig, Viet Thai Group aims to establish a product bearing the hallmark of the Central Highlands, progressively upgrading the value of the livestock supply chain and reaching toward both domestic and international premium food markets.
